Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, canola oil, and two cups of flour; mix. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth and let rise in a greased bowl for one hour.
  3. Punch down the dough and divide into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 12-inch rope and cut slits on either side to create the bone shape.
  4. Place on a greased baking sheet; cover and let rise for another 45 minutes to an hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last rise. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving.
