  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a six-mold donut pan with non-stick spray.
  2. For the crumb topping, mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add cold butter and work it into the mixture until it resembles coarse meal. Chill in the freezer.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt). In another bowl, combine wet ingredients (egg, sour cream, brown sugar, melted butter). Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients without overmixing.
  4. Fill each mold of the donut pan with batter and sprinkle with crumb topping.
  5. Bake for about 10-11 minutes until donuts spring back when pressed. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
