  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • Milk or heavy cream (as needed)
  • Candy fangs or red Vegan Gelatin (for decoration)
  • Red syrup or edible gel (for blood effect)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners. In a bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, and one tablespoon of red food coloring.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, salt, and whisk. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture until just combined. Stir in baking soda mixed with vinegar.
  3. Fill muffin tins about two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. For the filling, combine red velvet cake crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and remaining red food coloring until smooth.
  5. Hollow out the center of each cupcake and fill with the red velvet mixture.
  6. For frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar until fluffy; add vanilla and milk until smooth. Color the frosting ivory or peach for a skin-tone effect.
  7. Frost the cupcakes smoothly. Decorate with candy fangs or Vegan Gelatin puncture marks and drizzle with red syrup for blood effects.
